Daniel "Danny" Saenz

Mercedes, TX - Daniel “Danny” Saenz, 55, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Danny, our beloved Husband, Father, Son and Grandfather, was born January 27, 1967, to Feliciano & Virginia Saenz in McAllen, TX. He is survived by his spouse of 32 years, Martha Bustamante Saenz; Daughter, Ashley Saenz Lozano (Mark) and Granddaughter, Sophia Feliz Lozano, of Laredo, TX; Son, Daniel James Saenz, of Houston, TX; Parents, Feliciano & Virginia Saenz, of McAllen, TX; Siblings, Homer (Imelda) Saenz and Myrna (Todd) Wilson, of Arlington, TX; Mother-In-Law, Anselma (Alberto ✝) Bustamante, of Mercedes, TX; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends whom he considered extended family.  

Daniel, or “Danny” as most knew him, grew up in Corpus Christi, TX, and graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1985. He married his soulmate, Martha Bustamante, on August 11, 1990, and spent 32 wonderful years in Mercedes, TX. It is without saying that Danny’s greatest pride was indeed both of their children – Ashley and D.J., college graduates of the University of Texas and Texas A&M University, respectively. He truly wore his burnt orange and maroon with so much pride. Danny also recently welcomed his first granddaughter whom we all saw quickly stole Grandpa’s love and affection and brought out his softest side. On Sundays, you’d catch Danny’s signature Facebook post and perhaps even get a glimpse of his blue Cowboys flag waving proudly outside his home. He was also truly the life of any party – especially around his beautiful friends and family. Whether he was entertaining as the family’s DJ “Dan the Man”, telling jokes, or simply leading karaoke, everyone always seemed to have a great time around him. Danny was also a man of many words and always seemed to have a solution to just about everything – and he was often right. We will never forget his wit, tough love, and his keen ability to fix anything for everyone. Until we meet again our guardian angel is sure to be catching bigger fish in his newly found paradise.

A public viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Mercedes. Interment will follow 3:00 p.m. at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr, TX. Celebrant will be Rev. Felix Cazares. Pallbearers will be Jaime Bustamante, Mark Saenz, Larry Hernandez, Jerry Garza, Andy Garza, and Adrian Garza. Honorary Pallbearers are David Saenz, Joseph Saenz, Roel Saenz, D.J. Garza, Adrian Aramburo, and John Bustamante. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the City of Weslaco, Danny’s employer of 18 years, for their love and support during this time of need. A special thank you as well to our friends of Texas Roadhouse in Pharr, TX, Danny & Martha’s Friday night hangout, for the beautiful memories and support during our time of sorrow.
