Daniel R. Martinez, Jr.

Weslaco, TX – Daniel R. Martinez, Jr., 72, passed away to be with the Lord, Friday, December 3, 2021, at Knapp Medical Center.  Mr. Martinez was born August 6, 1949, to Daniel Sr. & Carmen Martinez, in San Miguel De Camargo Tamaulipas Mexico.  He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Teresa Martinez of Weslaco, TX; 4 sons, Romeo Valdez of Houston, TX, Daniel Martinez III (Liza), David Martinez (Elvia), Michael Martinez (April), all of Weslaco, TX; 2 daughters, Sandra Martinez (David Rodriguez), Michelle Rodriguez (Jesus), both of Weslaco, TX; his mother, Maria Del Carmen R. Martinez of Weslaco, TX; 4 brothers, Hugo Martinez (Sylvia), Samuel Martinez (Esmeralda), both of Weslaco, TX, Raul Martinez of Iowa, Leonel Martinez (Palmira) of Hondo, TX; & 3 sisters, Oneida Lorenzana (Rolando) of San Antonio, TX, Orfelinda Martinez, and Maria Del Carmen Martinez (Rolando Montemayor), both of Weslaco, TX.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild.  Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021, with a 6:00 p.m. rosary at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco – Chapel of the Angels.  Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  Officiating will be Rev. Francisco Solis.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.  Military auspices will be under the direction of Sgt. Benito Alaniz, VFW Post 7473 of Elsa, TX.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Martinez III, David Martinez, Michael Martinez, Romeo Valdez, David Rodriguez, & Jesus Rodriguez.  Arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, Inc., 2602 N.
