Eugenio "Gene" Escamilla

Weslaco, TX – Eugenio “Gene” Escamilla, 61, passed away to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at McAllen Medical Center.  Mr. Escamilla was born August 30, 1960, to Isaias & Olivia Escamilla in Weslaco, TX.  He is preceded in death by his father, Isaias Escamilla.  Mr. Escamilla is survived by his wife, Yolanda Escamilla of Weslaco, TX; 1 son, Eugenio “Buddy” Escamilla of Weslaco, TX; 1 daughter, Ilya Cantu (Pete) of Weslaco, TX; 1 step-son, Jose Ricardo Sifuentes Vela of Mexico; 1 step-daughter, Ana Maria Sifuentes Vela of Mexico; his mother, Olivia Escamilla of Weslaco, TX; 4 brothers, Elias Escamilla (Deborah) of Corpus Christi, TX, Hector Escamilla of Weslaco, TX, Isaac Escamilla (Frances), Omar Escamilla (Reyna), both of Edinburg, TX; & 2 sisters, Adela Ruiz and Nancy Soto (Florencio), both of Weslaco, TX.  Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Pete Anthony Cantu, Jr. & Illiyah Cantu.  Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Guerra Funeral Home Weslaco - Chapel of The Heavens with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service.  Graveside service will be 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Highland Memorial Park. Officiating will be Minister Jose Alvarado. Pallbearers will be Eugenio “Buddy” Escamilla, Pete Anthony Cantu, Roy Ruiz, Elias “J.R.” Escamilla, Hector Escamilla, Jr. & James Soto.  Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Anthony Cantu, Jr.  Arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, Inc., 2602 N.
