Evangelina Y. Montaño

Weslaco, TX – Evangelina Y. Montaño, 90, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Weslaco Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  Mrs. Montaño was born February 9, 1933, to Espiridion & Marcelina Yarrito in Edcouch, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ruben Montaño, Sr.; 1 grandson, Margarito Pompa III; 1 brother, Espiridion Yarrito, Jr.; 2 sisters, Enedina Venegas & Elma Sanchez. Mrs. Montaño is survived 1 son, Ruben Montaño, Jr. of Weslaco, TX; 4 daughters, Veronica Pompa (Isaias), Virginia Rivera (Jaime), Vilma Rodriguez (Roberto) & Viola Rivera all of Weslaco, TX; 3 brothers, Erasmo Yaritto of McAllen, TX, Jose Angel Yarrito, Eliseo Yaritto both of Weslaco, TX & 1 sister, Elida Gomez of Weslaco, TX. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Martin Pompa (Mary), Marcos Pompa (Linda), Jose I. Pompa (Gloria), Lucas Pompa (Kera), Ruben Pompa (Shawn), Laura Bonilla (Edgardo), Veronica Valdez (Roberto Carlos), Delila Pompa & Angela Pompa; 34 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. rosary, Monday, March 6, 2023, at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco – Chapel of the Angels. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andres A. Pompa, Roberto C. Valdez, Lorenzo I. Pompa, Hector M. Valdez, Osvaldo J. Valdez & Margarito Pompa IV. Honorary pallbearers will be Israel Rivera & Edgardo S. Bonilla.
