Jesus "Jesse" Carrillo Obituary

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

On Tuesday, November 9th, Jesus “Jesse” Carrillo went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family.

Jesse was born on January 3, 1977, to Cleofas and Elva Carrillo in Weslaco, Texas. He was the youngest of nine children. Jesse attended Weslaco High School where he met his wife, Lillian, and graduated in 1995. They were married on August 21, 2004, and celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary this year. Together, he and Lillian welcomed their greatest blessings, Noah and Kennedy.

There wasn’t anything Jesse wouldn’t do for his wife and children. Jesse loved to surprise Lillian with coffee and flowers “just because”; he looked forward to spoiling Kennedy with spa days and annual daddy-daughter Valentine’s Day dates, and he and Noah shared a love for cooking and cuisine.
Jesse was a “Mr. Fix it”, he was a great husband, loving father, and an amazing friend. Jesse loved to tell jokes, quickly making strangers into friends, and he never passed up an opportunity to serve as bartender. Jesse loved to create recipes, try new restaurants, and travel to different places on his bucket list; but he was always excited about planning his next trip to fabulous Las Vegas.

Jesse was a man of prayer and had an unshakable faith in God. He was very devout to the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy, which he prayed daily. Jesse was very active in his parish community of St. Pius X, serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Always ready to serve on the next ACTS retreat, Jesse was the first to volunteer for whatever was needed.
Every Sunday after attending 7:30 mass Jesse looked forward to gathering at his parents’ home and cooking for his father and siblings.
Jesse was generous with his time, his talents, and his resources. He loved to help anyone in need and gave 100% to everything he tried. Jesse saw every obstacle as a new opportunity for growth and he never backed down from a challenge.

At a young age, Jesse began D & J Construction Services. Jesse was a graduate of South Texas College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Technology. From 2008-2010 he became a teacher in Harlingen CISD teaching Manual Trades. He then worked at Mercedes ISD from 2010-2011. In 2012, Jesse became the Maintenance Director in Mercedes ISD, and in January 2019 he proudly accepted the position of Construction Manager for Weslaco Independent School District. Jesse led his employees with integrity and fairness and implemented various changes that would help the department flourish.

Throughout his lifetime, Jesse planted numerous seeds in the hearts of all of those he encountered. Although his life was cut short, he left us with many memories which we will cherish forever. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Jesse and our family. For all of those who have taken time out of their day to offer words of encouragement, messages of faith, provided meals or given monetary donations; words can never express how you have touched our hearts. We will be forever grateful. A very special thank you to Father Patrick Seitz and Father Luis Sanchez, as well as Dr. Armando and Pamela Gutierrez.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Lillian, and his children, Noah and Kennedy; his father, Cleofas Carrillo; brothers, Luis Carrillo (Norma), Miguel Carrillo (Nellie), Gabriel Carrillo (Cecilia), Reymundo Carrillo, and Jose Carrillo (Monica); sisters, Teresa Castaneda (Julio), Marina Garza (Ruben), and Gloria Guerrero (Nacho); Mother-in-Law, Linda Mendoza; Sisters-in-Law, Vanessa Mendoza and Diane Moreno (Anthony); Brother-in-Law, Lupe Moreno (Erica); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Jesse was preceded in death by his mother, Elva Carrillo.

“We’ll hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in heaven.”
