Nora Silva Obituary

Edcouch, TX - Nora Martinez Silva, 63, passed away on June 5, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. She leaves a legacy of love, commitment, and a lifetime of memories for those on earth to cherish.

Nora was born on November 24, 1958, in Mercedes, TX to Raymundo A. Martinez & Maria del Rosario Cantú Martinez.

Nora met the love of her life and best friend, Fernando Z. Silva Sr., while attending Edcouch-Elsa High School where she was a member of estudiantina, played the guitar and shared her beautiful voice. A few years after high school Fernando and Nora married on October 6, 1979, and shortly after started their family. They raised one daughter and two sons in Elsa, TX. They raised their children to be loving, independent, outspoken, and hard working. Nora was immensely proud of all her children and loved them to the very end. Her laugh and humor were ever present throughout her life journey. It wasn’t until recently that the secret of her famous Raspberry Iced Tea was unveiled. So, when you want to remember her and reminisce, add a little bit of Bacardi Razz to your Sweet Iced Tea and enjoy.

Nora not only raised her own children, but she also embraced anyone who needed a mother figure in their life and gave all she had. Nora was a nurse and helped countless patients throughout her lifetime and she also had the opportunity to educate other nurses in the healthcare profession. She was very active with her children in the Edcouch-Elsa Future Farmers of America organization, and you would see her at numerous FFA events throughout the years. You would also see her cheering on her daughter at numerous pageants.

She always wanted to be a grandma and her absolute pride and joy were her grandchildren.  They never went without gallons and gallons of chocolate milk and chocolate syrup. Per her grandchildren ice cream was healthy because it was made of milk, and they were spoiled with long bubble baths.

Nora was full of faith. Because of her faith, she was bestowed the honor and privilege of being a Godmother to numerous children. She loved them deeply and was a good role model for them all.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents Raymundo A. Martinez & Maria del Rosario Cantú Martinez, brother Norlando Martinez, and In-Laws, Abraham G. Silva & Maria Irene Silva.

She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Fernando Z. Silva Sr., her children: Sulema J. Silva (Dr. Yvonne M. De La Rosa), Fernando Silva, Jr. & Ovidio Julio Silva, Sr. Grandchildren: Abraham J. Silva, Augustus Pancho Silva, Ovidio Julio Silva Jr., Cheyenne Irene Silva, Graycen Nora Silva, and Maddisyn Faith Silva. Brothers: Norman Martinez and Noe Martinez.
